Literations Receives Grant from the Evelyn S. and K.E. Barrett Foundation

We are thrilled to announce that Literations has been awarded a generous grant of $17,500 from the Evelyn S. and K.E. Barrett Foundation. This grant will directly support our Sustained Tutoring Program in Boston and Framingham public schools.

For three decades, Literations has been dedicated to enhancing the literacy skills of young minds. Our unique approach involves professionally trained older adult volunteers serving as literacy coaches, focusing exclusively on 1st through 4th graders. We take pride in being the sole volunteer coaching organization in Greater Boston committed to developing critical literacy skills in these young learners.

The funding received will play a crucial role in sustaining and expanding our program. As we witness a growing need for early literacy interventions due to educational inequities, Literations is poised to make an even greater impact. Our intergenerational mentorship model is tailored to support young students struggling with reading, providing a nurturing, consistent, and focused environment for them to unlock their full potential.

Thank you, Evelyn S. and K.E. Barrett Foundation, for recognizing the importance of literacy and supporting our mission to empower young learners through education.

Generations Incorporated

We envision a day when all children are proficient readers when they enter 4th Grade. Literacy is the key to academic success and can be a path out of poverty.

Generations Incorporated strives to improve the literacy skills of young children through Grade 3. We also provide meaningful opportunities to older adults who serve as literacy volunteers in our partner schools and after school programs in low-income communities.
