Thomas Sneed and Mariann Youniss to join Literations Board of Directors

Literations is pleased to announce the appointment of two new board members,Thomas Sneed and Mariann Youniss.

Thomas Sneed of Natick, MA, is a sales and marketing expert with a demonstrated history of managing the reach and potential of progressive organizations. Thomas held many roles with Verizon Communications over his 26 year career and is currently the way for innovation and growth as their Manager of Product Marketing. In addition to his work, Thomas’s passions shine in his dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) as a member of both BOLD and WAVE, which are employee resource groups committed to shaping Verizon’s culture of inclusion. Thomas is also a member of The Partnership Inc, a Boston-based organization that aims to attract, retain, and develop professionals of color at all levels of leadership.

Mariann Youniss, a resident of Beacon Hill, has been a long-time advocate of education. As a member of Tufts’ Board of Advisors of the School of Arts & Sciences, she established the Youniss Family Professorship of Innovation, an endowed junior professorship. Mariann has been actively involved with a number of nonprofits in the Boston and Wellesley area over the past several years.

She is a Boston Medical Center’s Capital Campaign Committee member and co-founder of the “Lunch with Kate” fundraiser for Boston Medical Center.

We envision a day when all children are proficient readers when they enter 4th Grade. Literacy is the key to academic success and can be a path out of poverty.

Generations Incorporated strives to improve the literacy skills of young children through Grade 3. We also provide meaningful opportunities to older adults who serve as literacy volunteers in our partner schools and after school programs in low-income communities.
