Please sign up above to let us know you're interested!

For Boston and Framingham, we'll reach out in the spring with details about summer info sessions. Applications open over the summer, with training in August/September and volunteering starting in October/November.

For Chelsea, we may reach out sooner if we have space in the pilot program.

Benefits of volunteering

  • You’ll learn the ropes of coaching through our highly interactive training course.
  • You’ll be paired with students in need of extra support and will experience the joy of helping them achieve their full potential.
  • You’ll be a key member of a diverse group of smart and lively volunteers.
  • You'll have the opportunity to spend time with fellow volunteers during regular coffee hours and other social activities, such as a walking group and book clubs.

What our volunteers are saying

“Reading to a child one-on-one is like nothing else that you can do with a child.”

— Shirley Royster, Literations Literacy Coach, President's Volunteer Service Lifetime Achievement Awardee

“Volunteers play a pivotal role by providing one-on-one support, helping these students bridge educational gaps and thrive academically.”

— Josie Watson, Literations Literacy Coach, President's Volunteer Service Lifetime Achievement Awardee

“The literacy effort is not just about reading. Relationship building is crucial. I believe that without developing a relationship with these kids, the literacy process won’t be effective.”

— Bill Wolff, Literations Literacy Coach, President's Volunteer Service Lifetime Achievement Awardee
